Simon is the protagonist of the story, a short and un-intimidating fourteen year
old boy at the beginning of this tale. He was born in Jiiha Village and was raised by his parents until
the age of seven, when his parents were killed in an underground avalanche caused by an earthquake.
Their deaths traumatized Simon to the point of both hating and fearing life underground, and likely
played a role in developing his relationship with Kamina. Ironically, Simon's role in his community was
to dig more tunnels and caverns to expand Jiiha Village deeper underground.

Major Motoko Kusanagi (草薙 素子, Kusanagi Motoko?) is a fictional Japanese character in the Ghost in the Shell anime and manga series. She is a cyborg employed as the squad leader of Public Security Section 9, a fictional division of the real Japanese National Public Safety Commission. She is voiced by Atsuko Tanaka in the movies and the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex anime series. In the English dubbing of the original films she is voiced by Mimi Woods and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn in the sequel and in the anime series.
Kusanagi's various incarnations in the manga, movies, and TV series all portray her differently. Since each of these has an independent storyline, Kusanagi's physical and mental characteristics have been modified in different ways to reflect the focus of each respective story.

Kuroro Lucifer, also known as Chrollo Lucilfer, is a calm, handsome young man, coming across as intelligent and charismatic. He seems to be a born leader, able to hold the Genei Ryodan together despite the volatile personalities that make up the group, and well versed in strategies.

Roronoa Zoro is a pirate, former bounty hunter, and one of the main protagonists of One Piece. He was the first member to join the Straw Hat Pirates, and to date is considered the largest threat and most dangerous member in the crew after the captain Luffy. He is famed as a master swordsman, user of the Santoryu style
(3 Swords), and his great strength (and the actions of his captain) sometimes leads others to believe he must be the true captain. Being labeled as one of the "Monster Trio", he's one of the top three fighters in the crew. His dream is to become the greatest swordsman in the world. Zoro was labeled as one of "The Eleven Supernovas", the eleven rookie pirates with bounties over 100,000,000 beli to have reached the Red Line.
