Johan Liebert is the titular "monster" of the story who serves as the principal antagonist; the mystery of his past is the main focus of the plot. He has been called a monster, the next Hitler and even the Devil himself. Johan Liebert was shot in the head at a young age but saved from death by Dr. Tenma. Because of this, he regards Dr. Tenma almost as though he was his father. He claims to have a deep love for his twin sister and is shown to have some loyalty to her. He has spent portions of his life in different places under different aliases. He possesses an extraordinary level of charisma and intelligence, as well as being cunning, manipulative and deceitful. While he is shown to be kind, compassionate, and loving to children, he can be cold and very cruel. He uses his gifts to cruelly manipulate and corrupt others, often with no apparent end than to cause suffering and destruction. His goal, as he stated when he was young, is to be the last one standing at the end of the world.

Ikkaku Madarame is the 3rd Seat of the 11th Division in the Gotei 13. His captain is Kenpachi Zaraki.
In terms of his attitude, Ikkaku is a stereotypical 11th Division member — violent, fight-loving, and rude. This has been noted by Tetsuzaemon Iba, among others. He loves fighting so much that he is unwilling to travel anywhere without a sword, resorting to carrying a wooden one when posing as a student at Ichigo Kurosaki's school. However, Ikkaku does have a sense of loyalty and responsibility unlike many of the lower-ranked 11th Division members and is fiercely loyal to his captain, under whose command he wishes to die.

Yu Kanda is an Exorcist of the religious organization known as the Black Order. He is a Second Exorcist; an Exorcist who was genetically altered by the Black Order after his previous body suffered a fatal incident on a mission. He is one of the main protagonists of the D.Gray-Man series.
Kanda comes across as cold, stoic, and arrogant, even to his fellow exorcists. In battle he will do anything to win, sometimes at the risk of his teammates. He once made a sarcastic joke about leaving them to die. It is his opinion that exorcists are not saviors.

Gendo Ikari[1] is the Commander of Nerv, the husband of the "deceased" Yui Ikari and the distant father of Shinji Ikari. Originally known as Gendo Rokubungi, he changed his family name to Ikari after marrying Yui[2] and was then appointed as head of Gehirn and later Nerv, by Seele[3]. Balalaika [Black Lagoon]

Background/History: Balalaika is a former Spetznaz/VDV (Russian Airborne) trooper. She saw combat in the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, and at one point held the rank of Captain in the Russian military.In 1987, she is a First Lieutenant in Afghanistan, and is an expert marksman.Sometime later, we see Balalaika at the funeral for her original second-in-command. She declares that "dirty money" was what killed him and it is her intent to go to war.For Balalaika, war meant becoming part of Hotel Moscow, a branch of the Russian mafia. She (and her men) now live and work in the city of Roanapura, where they engage in various criminal operations designed to increase Hotel Moscow's power and influence under the cover of the "Bougainvillea Trading Company."

Personality/Motivation: One can sum up Balalaika in one word: ruthless. She will get what she wants, and will not hesitate to use whatever force is needed to get it. Those crossing her can expect no mercy, and she isn't above using torture to find out what she needs to know, as well as mercilessly executing a now beaten and bloody informant once she has the information she needs. She doesn't bother with flamboyant and grandiose gestures either, although she did blow up Chin (as well as most of his apartment building) as a show of force to the other crime cartels of Roanapura. Interestingly, Balalaika does have a sense of honor, and will treat fairly those who deal squarely with her. She respects (and seems to like) Dutch for example, and uses Lagoon Couriers for most of her jobs. She also seems to have a liking for Rock, probably because of the defiance he showed Asahi after they declared him "dead," as well as his business and language skills. She even tolerates Revy calling her "big/elder sister."

Ichinose Takumi [NANA]

The leader and bassist of Trapnest. He uses Fender Jazz Bass which the sunburst finish is used on. He is quite handsome and has a reputation of being a playboy. Despite his raw sexual charisma, Takumi can also be a cold and controlling workaholic. His favorite brand of cigarettes is Gitanes. Coming from a family with an alcoholic and bitter father, he and his older sister learned to be independent at a young age due to their mother being bed-ridden with illness in the hospital. He looked after Layla since they were children and always harbored a brother-like care for her. He ends up dating and sleeping with Hachi, which dubiously resulted in Hachi's pregnancy. For some reason, perhaps because of his family background or because he is starting to become possessive, he refuses to leave Hachi and the unborn child despite Hachi's uncertainty whether it is his or Nobu's. In a previous chapter, Naoki said something to Yasu about Takumi not letting the woman he is infatuated with run away that easily; and Ren saying that Takumi hates getting into such mess, which hints that Takumi took responsibility not just only because of sheer sense of responsibility but he is starting to care for her. But although he loves Hachi and is "infatuated" with her, Takumi still keeps his playboy habits, cheating on her first with a soap-opera actress and later on with Layla, who has openly declared her desire to become one of his lovers. Takumi has said more than once that he only loves Layla as a sister, and so far appears to be telling the truth.Although he does not show any feelings towards Hachi and Satsuki during the pregnancy, He does admit to Ren when Ren tells him he is going to hell for sleeping with Layla that he would do anything to make sure Hachi and Satsuki are not dragged with him. During one of the views from the present, we witness Takumi in London with a fair haired young boy by the name of Ren. Ren refers to Takumi as Father and says he does not want to go back to Japan to be with his mother. However, it is not revealed who she is. As well as Takumi visiting Hachi and Satsuki in Japan with no sign nor mention of young Ren.

In the end, Takumi is one of the most confusing characters in this manga. Like what Hachiko once said, with Takumi, it is hard to tell whether it is love or business.

Lucy (ルーシー) [Elfen Lied]



Diclonius girl around eighteen years old. Her real name is Kaede and she has developed strong emotions of hatred and vengeance towards regular humans mainly because of how she was treated by the majority of them as a child, making fun of her horns and giving her insulting nicknames such as freak.


Ashitaka (アシタカ) [Mononoke hime]



A prince of the Emishi tribe, Ashitaka is cursed in combat with a demonic boar. His only hope for a cure is to return to the forested land from which the boar-god originally came and discover what rage infected it. Leaving his people behind forever, he makes that journey and discovers the gods of the forest at war with the humans in a iron-mining town. Ashitaka vows to help the two sides reach a compromise, to cure them of the very anger that now eats away at him. The key to compromise appears to lie with a mysterious human girl who lives amongst the gods. Ashitaka falls for San (or 'Princess Mononoke' as the townspeople call her) and his slowly reciprocated love turns out to be the cure for the curse that effects him and the land.

Accelerator [To Aru Majutsu no Index]

Accelerator is the most powerful Psychic in Academy City. A sadistic boy about the same age as Tōma, he has an ability called "Vector Change", a form of telekinesis allowing him to change the vector values of anything he touches due in part of having a thin coat of AIM fields surrounding his body. This ability allows Accelerator perform feats such as reversing the blood flow inside a person's body, increasing the wind velocity around him to create a massive plasma storm, and blocking sound. His ability is automatic, which means that he must consciously allow gravity to affect him and that his body blocks all ultraviolet radiation, resulting his albino appearance (white hair and pale skin) because his body is unable to make melanin. The automatic nature of Redirection also prevents the use of projectiles (like bullets) and explosives (like bombs) against him.

Xanxus [Katekyo Hitman Reborn]

Xanxus is the current Leader of the Varia, Vongola IX's adopted son, and the main antagonist of the Varia Arc. He was born into poverty with just his mentally ill mother. His mother discovered his Dying Will Flame when he was very young and brought him to Vongola IX. When she and Xanxus confronted the 9th, he took Xanxus and placed his scarf around him, agreeing that he was indeed his son even though he had never seen this woman nor her son before. During the Varia Arc, he and Tsuna battle for the Sky Vongola Ring and the position of the 10th Vongola Boss. Later, in the Future Arc, he remains the leader of the Varia and leads a raid against the Millefiore, taking their Headquarters. He battles against one of the Fake Funeral Wreaths as well and wins, showing that he has grown much stronger in the Future.

Kenshiro (Fist Of The North Star / Hokuto no Ken)

Kenshiro (ケンシロウ, Kenshirō?, nicknamed Ken for short) is the main protagonist of the franchise Fist of the North Star by Buronson and Tetsuo Hara. According to Buronson, Kenshiro's character design was inspired by the character of Max Rockatansky from the Mad Max film series and martial artist Bruce Lee.
In the story, Kenshiro is the rightful successor of an ancient art of assassination called Hokuto Shinken, which allows Kenshiro to defeat his adversaries through use of hidden meridian points. Through the course of the original manga, Kenshiro fights against various ruffians who threaten the lives of the post-apocalyptic survivors, as well as numerous rival martial artists, including his three honorary brothers trained in the art of Hokuto Shinken.
Kenshiro is also known as the Man With Seven Scars (七つの傷の男, Nanatsu no kizu no otoko?), due to the seven scars engraved on his chest patterned after the shape of the Big Dipper (the symbol of the Hokuto school), as well as the Savior of Century's End (世紀末救世主, Seikimatsu Kyūseishu?). In the manga, as well as most anime adaptations of the franchise, Kenshiro's catch phrase before killing an enemy is "you're already dead" (お前はもう死んでいる, omae wa mō shindeiru?).

Major Motoko Kusanagi (Ghost In The Shell)

Major Motoko Kusanagi (草薙 素子, Kusanagi Motoko?) is a fictional Japanese character in the Ghost in the Shell anime and manga series. She is a cyborg employed as the squad leader of Public Security Section 9, a fictional division of the real Japanese National Public Safety Commission. She is voiced by Atsuko Tanaka in the movies and the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex anime series. In the English dubbing of the original films she is voiced by Mimi Woods and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn in the sequel and in the anime series.

Kusanagi's various incarnations in the manga, movies, and TV series all portray her differently. Since each of these has an independent storyline, Kusanagi's physical and mental characteristics have been modified in different ways to reflect the focus of each respective story.

Sesshōmaru (殺生丸, Sesshōmaru), feared throughout the world as "Lord Sesshōmaru, Demon Lord of the Western Lands," is Inuyasha's half-brother and the successor to the Great Dog Demon. Unlike many other demons, he has no interest in possessing even one shard of the Jewel of Four Souls to enhance his powers, since he is already supremely confident of his own strength and he only relies on his sword to aid him. Accompanying him is a young human girl named Rin, and a demon by the name Jaken. After Naraku attempts to manipulate him by using Rin as a hostage, Sesshomaru becomes determined to destroy Naraku.

An extremely strong and powerful demon lord (daiyōkai, literally great yōkai); Sesshōmaru often appears aloof and indifferent, and rarely shows any emotions other than slight annoyance or dissatisfaction. He thinks highly of himself and is cruel to others, though he is quite protective of his minions. He cares very little for others, and thinks that humans, while at times amusing, are merely mortal and ultimately expendable. He believes that struggle is the only way for survival. He especially shows great hatred for Inuyasha, his hanyō half-brother, who wields the amazingly strong and powerful Tetsusaiga, a sword made from one of their father's fangs that can kill one hundred demons at once in one strike. Sesshomaru believes that their father was unfair to him because he wields the weak Tenseiga while Inuyasha wields Tetsusaiga. He blames Inuyasha's mother for his father's death, claiming that she had made the Inu no Taishou weak.

Demon Eyes Kyo (Samurai Deeper Kyo)



Demon Eyes Kyo is said to have slaughtered a thousand men. Although his reputation actually belongs to Kyoshiro, he has certainly killed more than a thousand people himself. He is imprisoned in Kyoshiro's body and takes it over whenever Kyoshiro's life is threatened. Kyo fears no one and is quite arrogant and self-centered early in the manga. Throughout the story, he is looking for his real body, which was sealed somewhere by Kyoshiro. His ultimate goal is to become the strongest man in the world. His most distinguishing feature is his red eyes.

Tykki Mikk (D.Gray-man)



Tyki Mikk is the third disciple, who represents the "Pleasure" of Noah. Tyki has two "sides" to his life, one in which he is a care-free, Portuguese vagabond and the other where he is a Noah and seemingly well-known in society. He enjoys living them both, but fears losing the human friends he has. After Allen Walker's failed attempt to exorcise the Noah, the Noah consumes him.Tyki has the ability to "choose" what he wants to touch, allowing him to walk on water or air and harmlessly passing through anything, with the exception of Innocence.He can also "reject" the atmosphere, creating a vacuum. Tease, man-eating golems in the shape of a butterfly given as a gift from the Earl, obey him.
