The Visual Kei world says goodbye to another great band today, as D’espairsRay has announced on their official website that they are officially disbanding.
Last Christmas, the band went on an indefinite hiatus because vocalist HIZUMI had been infected with an illness that caused problems with his singing. At the time, the hiatus was to let HIZUMI fully recover and seek full medical treatment for his condition.

HIZUMI’s final words on the website explains the disbandment. He sought out medical treatment, acupuncture, and even Chinese and Japanese therapeutics to treat his throat, but the recovery is currently stagnant, so they came to this decision. Since the band formed, he’s been able to experience many things and has met people all over the world.
Karyu gave his thanks to fans who believed in the band and waited for their return, and apologizes to them for not being able to. He explains that because of HIZUMI’s condition, the band will not hold their last performance. Karyu is very thankful and proud to have had encounters with everyone, and that it has changed him.
Bassist ZERO mentioned a promise they made to everyone that they would come back, but is sorry that they couldn’t keep it. He hopes that everyone can understand their decision to disband. Although he doesn’t know what’s in store for the future, he hopes he will see everyone’s smiling faces again. He is truly thankful to the staff and all the MANIAs (D’espairsRay’s fan club).
Last but not least was drummer TSUKASA, who is also very sorry that they have come to this decision. Words can’t describe the past 10 years, because it’s something that is very important to him. Even after the disbandment, the memory of D’espairsRay will be kept in the hearts of all their fans all over the world. He is very proud to be the drummer of D’espairsRay, and will live his life to the fullest. He also wants to reassure everyone that the band is not on bad terms, and it is not the reason for them breaking up.

Throughout their 11 year career, D’espairsRay has toured not only Japan, but Europe and America. They touched many hearts while on the road and through their music, and they will surely be missed.
