Much-anticipated drama adaptation Boys Before Flowers, aka the Korean Hana Yori Dango, is taking a little longer than anticipated to complete its casting.

With the immense popularity of the preceding adaptations in Japan and Taiwan, it’s no surprise they’re taking particular pains in the casting process. A representative of production company Group 8 said in an interview on the 4th that casting will be finished by the end of the month.

Furthermore, rumors in June that boy-band SS501 leader Kim Hyun-joong was cast as one of the four leads were said to be “groundless reports.”

In early July, one rep from the production company had said, “We’re interested in auditioning members of idol groups, and about 80 percent of active members of popular groups have participated in auditions.” At that time, they’d thought to be done casting by the end of July, but the process has taken longer than the initial estimate. After rumors spread about Kim Hyun-joong’s casting, they’d wanted to speed up the casting, but that proved difficult.

The KBS2 drama plans to broadcast next January.

Имената на четиримата от F4 вече са известни. Hyun-joong от SS501 наистина ще играе Rui. Дано да се поосвободи малко от другите си ангажименти, че да може да се съсредоточи повече върху героя си.
Kim Bum (East of Eden) мисля, че е добър избор за ролята на Нишикадо.

Goo Hye Sun is Makino in Korean Hana Yori Dango

Having revealed the Korean F4 last Friday, Group 8 has announced that Makino in the Korean Hana Yori Dango will go to actress Goo Hye Sun.

Goo Hye Sun will be the main female character in KBS2TV drama, “Boys over Flowers” (name for the drama) which will be shown in December. This will be Goo Hye Sun’s third drama in 2008 following SBS “King and I” and KBS “Strongest Chil-Woo” where she played the leading female role.

Goo Hye Sun plays Yeonoo that is the daughter of a Dry Cleaner owner, who is a swimmer at her school when her school doesn’t even have a swimming team. Near the dry cleaners, she was delivering or picking up clothes when she meets [runs into] the F4 leader and then whole series starts as she deals with certain episodes and events as she becomes Cinderella.

Director Jeon Ki-sang explains that he chose Goo Hye Sun because she fits Tsukushi’s image well, and acknowledges that the public had tossed her name around a lot as a prospective Makino when the drama was first announced. She was in fact one of the front-runners in polls.

Оказва се, че сред актьорския състав има още един музикант. Ролята на Акира е поверена на Kim Jun от група T-Max, чийто дебют беше миналата година с песен - кавър на Lion heart (SMAP).

Още едно име се появи в каста: това на Kim Hye Seong (Unstoppable High Kick, Land of the Winds, Boy Meets Boy).

5 януари е обявената дата за начало на драмата.
Освен в Макао, някои от сцените са заснети в Нова Каледония и на остров Уайкики, край бреговете на Нова Зеландия.
Братчето на Jan Di (Макино) ще бъде изиграно от Park Ji Bin, който в последните години направи впечатление с участието си в няколко сериозни филма като Hello Brother и Ice Bar.
